Hope everyone is having a great day!
I was craving something different and had found a great recipe for Stuffed Pizza Balls.
Chances are you most likely have all of the ingredients on hand as well!! (At least I know I always do hehe :))
I am also going to share the link of where I found this great recipe.
What I will do is give you the quick rundown of the recipe, but for more details, and for how to roll the balls up, you can watch the video that is in the link.
So here is what you will need:
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 (16 oz) can Pillsbury Grands Original refrigerated biscuits (8 biscuits)
- 4 oz Mozzarella cheese, cut into 8 equal cubes
- Pizza sauce
- 8 pepperoni slices
- Grated parmesan
The recipe says you can make these pizza balls with italian sausage but at this house, we prefer pepperoni. I will be trying them out with italian sausage one day though…. One day.
As you saw in the above picture, I use a cast iron pan when I make these. But you can use a round baking dish just as well.
For the butter mixture, I usually buy the box of butter where the sticks are prepackaged in ½ stick portions, so I melt two of those in a small dish for about a minute in the microwave. Once I take it out (careful, that dish will be hot) I add in the garlic powder, salt, dried basil and oregano and mix it really well. Then I pour a little less than half of the mixture into the pan and then I leave the pan and the dish on top of the stove while I preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
During that time, I take out the biscuits from the container and separate them on a plate, and working one at a time, I flatten out each biscuit and then stuff it…. Slice of pepperoni, some pizza sauce (not too much, it will cause an issue), a cube of cheese, and another slice of pepperoni. Then I pinch the biscuit into a ball and place it pinched side down into the cast iron pan.
When I am done with all 8 biscuits, I mix the butter mixture up and then pour it over each ball and sprinkle some parmesan over each one and then pop it in the oven for about 20 minutes.
Now because I don’t want anyone to burn themselves, after I take the finished product out of the oven I let it sit for a minute or two and carefully take each ball out one by one and arrange them on a plate and then serve with pizza sauce on the side.
Really easy to make, and it is really quick too. Very little prep work as well, which is great!
