I am a 25 year old, Chicago raised girl that earned Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012 and a Corporate Paralegal Certificate from Loyola University Chicago in 2014. I have a passion for writing anything and everything that comes to mind.
I am a former Lifeguard and Swim Coach for the Chicago Park District, but after graduating from UIC, I decided to step into the wonderful world of the corporate lifestyle. Shortly after graduation, I was offered a position as an Administrative Assistant for a small construction company that is based out of Rosemont, IL. While working there, I attended evening classes at Loyola, and within a year, became a Paralegal.
I now work at a small law firm based out of Northbrook, IL, and I am really learning what the role of a Paralegal means. It really is true what they say about the first year in almost any position- that is where all of the real learning begins.
I am on my own journey, as an adult in the post collegiate world- learning the fine art of being a good Paralegal that attorneys can rely on to complete the work required and essentially help keep a small law firm running.
I enjoy writing, it has always been an outlet for me. I’ve lost count as to how many journals I have filled up over the years- writing down and saving memories of my childhood, my teenage and young adult years. I’ve written anything from poetry, to short stories, to even a few chapters for various potential novels I have begun and never finished- only because I focused on my education during the years.
I am Polish, although born in Austria. Raised in Chicago for as long as I can remember- so I am a city girl at heart. I do speak, read and write the Polish language pretty fluently.
I used to dance ballroom, back in my grammar and middle school days. Once high school started, I decided to take on the almost permanent aroma of chlorine and became a varsity swimmer for Taft High School (class of 2008 :)). I admit, that perfume stuck with me through college as well- but only because I landed a great job opportunity to be a year round lifeguard for the Chicago Park District. I swam, I coached, and I watched the water during the summers. Those really were some of the best summers, including the “Short Short Sunday Crew” days at Norwood Park.
I read. A lot. I read anything anyone recommends and anything that sounds (or looks) interesting to me in any way. While I am still, and always will be, a fan of the old fashioned bound books, I own a Kindle, and it never leaves me. It is always in my purse, charged and ready to go, carrying a vast library of books I have read, reread, and have yet to read. Honestly the only reason I have the Kindle is for the convenience of having multiple books to read, all in one spot. I recommend one to any avid reader who simply has no more room in their personal library for another 300+ page novel.
I love dogs. All dogs. They really are human’s best friend, in every aspect. Now that doesn’t mean that I don’t like other animals, I simply grew up around dogs and they hold a very special spot in my heart.
There is some of my story. The rest- its the journey I share with you, the one where I tell you about my life as a 25 year old girl working as a Paralegal. I will share with you the good, and the bad days, and most importantly, the truth, of what it is like working in the legal field and adjusting to adulthood- and tailoring my life, to be the vision I have for myself.
